Preface

The Department of Assamese in the Bhawanipur  Anchalik  College, Bhawanipur, Barpeta, Assam was introduced in the Year 1982 and honours course was opened at degree level from the session 1987. As a prominent subject of humanities, Assamese always plays an important role in the intellectual improvement of humanity. Thus, the Department of Assamese, Bhawanipur Anchalik. College has also been playing an active & important role in the academic upliftment of this institution as well as the intellectual improvement of the society. Some students having Assamese subject   as Major & General have successfully completed Degree Programme. Many of them are now well-established in the society.

Presently we have three regular, one Non-Sanction faculty members in the Department , who have been extending their all co-operation and service for the development of the college.

Department- its objective

The Subject Assamese was introduced to give certain amount of knowledge of Assamese to the students of the college . It is an compulsory subject under the syllabi of Gauhati University and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. In view of this following aspects are taken as its objective.

1. To prepare the students of Higher Secondary and Three year Degree course examination.
2. To enhance the Quality of teaching and learning through the subject.
3. To provide idea regarding Assamese Language , Literature , Culture and its scope and future.
4. To perform Social , cultural activities through the subject.
5. 5.     To provide knowledge regarding Assamese Culture ,
6. To develop the communication skills of the students.
7. To prepare the students for Higher  Education so that the can be able to stand on their own feet.

Department and Its vision

Bhawanipur Anchalik college is being situated in a rural area of Barpeta district. Most of the students are belongs to Economically weak family. People of the area basically depends on their own hard labour. They don’t have sufficient educational facilities for education  and it’s a major problem for the students as well as the institution. Students have encouraged to raise their levels of understanding and to creat a positive educational environment in the college.

GROWTH , LEVEL AND CURRICULUM

Now we are teaching the subject Assamese in two levels- HS and TDC under AHSEC( Assam Higher Secondary Educaion Council ) and GU( Gauhati University) respectively .In the beginning the subject Assamese was taught in HS level under AHSEC  syllabus , then the college introduced degree course . the major course was started in  the year 1987 . Teaching  plan

Before starting the Classes a teaching plan is prepared by the faculty of the department. To cover the entire course the plan is designed according to the syllabus and it is communicated to the students in the beginning of the session along with the class routine. The plan and its progress are recorded in the relevant registers. After completion of the units of the syllabus review is made.

Routine

Master routine is prepared from the college. The teacher's individual routines are prepared from master routine. The individual routines are duly communicated to students of the department in the beginning of the session. In preparing the routine due care is taken to see that weekly class norms for each teacher and each class are adhered to as stipulated by the college authorities.

Maintenance of attendance of  teachers and the students

The teachers of the department have to sign in the daily attendance register on arrival and departure and the registers are centrally maintained by the college authority. For the students of the department compulsory attendance registers are maintain for each class and final report are kept by the Head of the Department.

Departmental records

Various departmental records such as teaching plans, Lesson plan , work loads , departmental proceeding , seminar register , teachers profile, students attendance registers, examination result etc are maintain in separate registers.

Department - it's positive aspects

The department has four teachers with proper academic qualifications and   effective teaching experience. All the teachers are young ,  dynamic and have devotions to their duties. They have love and affection to their students and promised to surrender everything for the benefit of the students. Classes of the department are regularly held and due care is taken to see that the stipulated syllabus are covered in time. The results of the department are fairly good as can be seen from the relevant records.
